Day 14

Warning : If you don't like reading negative thoughts please stop reading now. Sorry it has been so long between posts but it has been rather hectic here. As I write this I am feeling a bit deflated; I had my first weigh in since the start of this process today and I weigh 134.4 kgs. So this means in just over two weeks I have lost a grand total of 1.8 kgs.I know before you all start hollering gradual weight loss and change of habits is best overall, but after not drinking anything other than water for two weeks and watching what I was eating fairly closely I was hoping for a better result than this. I have not gone too hard with the exercise yet and I realise that this will play a big part in the longer journey as well.I have been completely blown away but everyones interest in my journey and all your support. I promise I will update things more regularly from now on.

Day 4

Well today has been my first day of setbacks. It was a great day Ethan turned 10 and from the time he woke up and opened his presents it was hectic. I made the kids school lunches and took them to school and then went straight into back to back meetings. Before I knew it I was finalising what we were doing for Junior Soldiers and Corps Cadets and then quickly picking some things up from the shop for these programmes. It was then time to pick Ethan up from school, then Amy-Lee & Zara and straight to the hall. As you might have guessed by now NO BREAKFAST & NO LUNCH !! OOPS. At least I still haven't drunk any fizzy drinks at all including Coke. Yesterday I was headache free, but sadly it did return today. So far for my first week it is not going too bad I suppose. Anyway Happy Birthday Ethan may we get to share the joy of many more birthdays to come. Love you heaps and am very proud of the young boy you are.

Day 2

I will state right at the start I probably won't be updating this everyday, but will try and keep it as up to date as possible. I will certainly let you know how the battle is going and what progress I am making. So onto today I had my appointment with the Doctor today and he is VERY happy for me to start this process. My official starting weight is 136.2 kgs (which the Doctor informs me is 1.5 kgs lighter than 12 months ago) so I certainly have plenty to lose. My aim will be to have a weigh in once a week, and that will allow me to chart my weight loss as I go. I dont think anyone wants to see me topless on a weekly basis so at this stage I will just show the weigh in ticket. I have been completely blown away by everyones support and encouragement. I realise I have so many wonderful friends and family and that will make the hard days easier. Thanks for your interest in me and your support. The headaches today are not as bad as yesterday, so hopefully they will be gone in a day or so. So far so good I have eaten breakfast the last two days (and have not had any sugar on my Just Right !) and continue to drink a lot of water (and NO COKE).

Day 1

Welcome to Day One of my journey, that hopefully will lead to a healthier me and a significant amount of money raised for research into Cystic Fibrosis. Today is officially Day One although the process really started at about 10:50 am on Sunday 8th September 2013 when I announced to the congregation at the Wangaratta salvation Army (somewhat spontaneously) that I was stating on this adventure. So I should be feeling on top of the world...Right... Well Not Yet !! I cant believe that after only 36 or so hours without Coca-Cola I am already experiencing shocking headaches. For someone who doesn't normally suffer from headaches this is not much fun. This has made me ask myself a couple of questions ; 1) If after such a short time my body is already looking for its fix, how much was I really drinking & 2) If this is having this effect so quickly this could not have been good for my system. So far in the last two days I have drunk just over 4 litres of Water, and amazingly I actually ate breakfast this morning. I am planning to get myself weighed officially tomorrow (I have to go to the Doctor's to get some more Blood Pressure Tablets), and also I will discuss this plan with the Doctor and get his advice & a quick check up. I am not planning to drop 5 or 6 kilograms a week, but I am really hoping to have gradual and sustainable weight loss over a couple of months. I hope if you are coming along with me that you enjoy the ride, and that I will stay fairly positive. I want this to not just help Cystic Fibrosis but help me be a better Husband,Father and Officer. I am happy to receive any advice/encouragement along the way.
